Thanks LoveToChat! You pushed me into doing this :)
Welcome to my little
corner of the NET. If you are interested in learning a
little bit about me read on. I will give you tidbits and
insights into what make me me:)
I was born on a cold blustery day back in March, 1964
in Minnetonka, Mn. (It's where the make TONKA trucks!) My
dad was an Air Force officer so immediatley I got the
thrill of moving every couple of years to exciting and
exotic places such as Pax River MA, Dayton OH, West Point
NY and of course, Fort Walton Bch FL where I planted my
feet back in '79 and have stayed ever since. It has been
a real joy growing up in a beach community. I graduated
from FWBHS in 82 and attended some college here.
Early on I learned to
sail (my folks opened up a sail center) and I found the
thrill of sailing catamarans and sailboards. I was lucky
to get to sail with some world class sailors and competed
in many major area regattas. Yes, I won my share of
events :) Over time, my interest wained with sailing.
Always competing took some pleasure from the event and
with my father being a dealer I always had to be 'top
dog' promoting fast cats.
Around this time I
was flailing around the idea of a career. I was
airbrushing T-shirts on "the strip" and was
contemplating a life as a graphic artist. After a few
years of bouncing around various jobs a good friend of
mine got me started in the Auto Refinish business.
Finally, I found a way to release my pent up artistic
abilities in a field I really enjoyed!
As I settled into a life of painting cars interest
with the beach came back. Jet Ski's were a way to play on
the water, go fast and have a really good time showing
off! Oh the fun I had building my first ski. Custom motor
and paint! Yes, I was one of those crazy fools!
All this time, I was bouncing in and out of
relationships. I moved to Pensacola to work for Key Ford,
got engaged to a wonderful person, and gave up my old
life. I gave up everything to be with Paula and her
daughter and even though we loved each other, times were
hard.
As you can guess, it didn't work out. I left
Pensacola, moved back to Navarre and started turning
wrenches for a friend of mine while I put my life back
together. About a year later I went back to painting cars
(I was trying to avoid it for health reasons). Working
with Danny again, all those old habits started to come
back. I'm a typical Tim Allen. Im not happy till I tear
it down, rebuild it better, and hope it doesn't blow up
when I use it next!
I'm still
painting cars. I finally did a wild one for myself. (ps.
it's for sale) and built a Wave Runner with a trick paint
job and go riding every weekend with friends. Even with
all this going on I still have time to watch my action
movies, read a good book, enter a car show, visit friends
at Waffle House for coffee and just generally make a
nusance of myself online.
A quick summary is...
I enjoy cooking. Stop in on a Sunday and we will grill
some steaks and watch some movies.
I still do some art work but mostly work with my hands.
Woodworking, stained glass and yes, even sewing quilts.
If i'm in a really weird mood I will write some dark
passages (not poetry but close). My writings.
If nothing else, a good bottle of wine and a walk on the
beach will restore my restless soul.
