OK, here it is...more
reasons to hate AOL and why AOL sucks...
These are just some of my personal experiences...
D@mn AOL
Sucks!

New stupid ideas
from AOL...
AOL has gotten
the brilliant idea that to stop the spamming, junk and
porn email originating from their chat rooms, you should
create a NEW screen name with preferences set to
'no email'. If you meet someone you would like to
exchange email with you have to give them your real
screen name. Some soulution! You may as well use a
different ISP, log through an anonymous server and then
jump into AOL chat.
Technical...
AOL is not a true ISP (internet
service provider). It is an incomplete gateway. Imagine
this...
The internet is a giant library in which you may wander
around, pulling books at random. Most ISP's allow you
access where ever and when ever you what. But in the case
of AOL, when you log on, you have to stop at the desk and
ask that mean, grey haired librarian for the book you
want and if she cares to, she will get it and bring it to
the desk for you. Most times it seems she doesn't want to
and if she does she does so slowly.
Member's Services...
DON'T use them! I joined NetMarket
($59) and purchased a CD player for the car. The price
was good and the next day I got my email conformation. 4
days later my credit card was billed. 28 days later I
still didn't have my CD player and called the 1-800 line.
After playing the number game I got a real person. They
took my confirmation number and found it hadn't been
shipped. Policy is they don't bill your card until the
item is shipped. The person said they would ask for a
tracking number and call me back. Thankfully two days
later I recieved it but no phone call. One week after
that I recieved a note in the mail to call the 1-800
line.
Be Warned! AOL does not provide tracking numbers to the
purchaser, the seller does not provide tracking numbers
to AOL. AOL does not sell the products but acts as a
merchant and do not tell you who provides the product.
Connecting...
AOL can not support the needs of
it's current members but are trying to increase it's
members daily. For every new city dial-up they add, they
remove one from a city that has more than one. I had two
dial-ups (one fast, one slow) They removed the slow
dial-up (14.4) and now it can take up to an hour to
connect!
EMail...
If you want your child exposed to
pornography use AOL email. AOL raves about parental
controls but they don't tell you they host the email
spammers! If you enter any AOL chat room you will be
immediatly assaulted with spam email. From 10 minutes in
a chat room I recieved 20 spams, password frauds, and
porn...this still hasn't ended even after 4 months!
In conclusion...
Do not purchase merchandise from
AOL...
Do not use AOL chat rooms...
Set your login to retry 25 times...
Guess you need a new ISP :)
